On toward Gatwick
I must apologize to my friends - I really can write and I know how to paragraph, but for some reason blogger is NOT taking my paragraph suggestions. It is sort of pissing me off, but since I cannot do anything about I just decided to let you all know what was happening...it isn't me screwing up! So to move on: Today looks deceptively nice out...however, it is actually a bit cool and is supposed to rain later. Not that it matters as much today as we are packing up and heading to the Gatwick Airport Hilton. That's because we leave from Gatwick for Dubrovnik at the ungodly hour of 6am tomorrow. We have been staying near Kings Cross, in the north end of London and Gatwick is quite south of London, so a move seemed the ideal. We even have our tickets for the Gatwick Express already purchased. Yesterday we started out at Trafalgar Square and wound up all over the government areas of town. Parliament is a beautiful building and we photographed it from every angle we could find. Saw Scotland Yard, Downing Street - complete with guards and barricades - Westminster Abbey, Whitehall, the Horse Guards places...stunning to see all the things you've only seen in pictures or drawings but have read about. Diane told me to "walk my legs off" and I'm pretty sure I have. My legs and feet were aching last night but I got some spectacular pictures so it was worth it. At Trafalgar Square they were setting up for a Canada Day celebration. Today, July 1, is Canada Day. And the Canadian Embassy is right there at Trafalgar. So is South Africa and Malaysia. So much to look at and so little time. People here are incredibly nice. A couple we talked to at the Globe suggested other venues for shows. Others have heed us find our way places. I just wish I always understood exactly what they are saying. Tonight is the final UEFA game - Spain vs Italy. There is a sports bar at the Hilton, so you all know where we will be at 7:45 GMT tonight. Hope everyone is doing well. Later.
