Since arriving, our hosts have helped us find not only the usual: restaurants, places of interest, etc., but also a body shop to take care of the broken window. We should have things back to normal by thursday.
So, right now, as I am typing, I am on the back deck of the Hummingbird B&B in Powell River, B.C., with a glass of white wine looking out towards Vancouver Island and the straits in between. The sun is setting, there is no smog, the sky is pink and blue - it's absolutely beautiful. The room we have is gorgeous - all in my favorite colours (note the British spelling) of blue, green and white. The house is on the hill overlooking Powell River. Everyone is very nice - and we'll have some pics to add later. Like most of B.C., there are flowers galore. Hanging baskets are everywhere - and most of the yards are green with flower gardens that Peggy would kill for. I couldn't do the gardening required, but Peggy - you would find this heaven.
We had a delightful dinner at the Eagle's Landing about 10 kilometers down the road - sat on the patio overlooking the water and had french onion soup and caesar salad that I could do again before we leave. Lou and MD - they had a Mandarin/Blackberry martini that was superb!
So, tomorrow we are heading out to kayak. Hopefully all will go well and we'll have some great pictures from the day to share tomorrow night.
As you can tell, our moods are improving from yesterday. Now, for a good night's sleep and a better day.
