Back in the U.S.A.

Today we were up at 5 and on the road shortly after 5:30.  What fun.  Left a note for Ava, and she had left a very nice note for us.  We had fun there.

Traveling with very few people on the road is a good thing.  I wasn't much help - I slept to Nanaimo, where we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast.  I haven't really eaten at a McD's since I saw Super Size Me.  Scared the crap out of me!  Had a fairly good breakfast though, then headed to Sidney, B.C. to make the ferry crossing to Anacortes in Washington State.  Checked through Canadian customs - that took no time.  You'd think since we were taking a U.S. ferry that customs could take place there, but NOOOOO - we had an hour's wait as soon as we docked  (after a two hour ferry ride!).  Unbelievable - we might as well have gone through Vancouver again.

We finally got to our hotel in Olympia at 5:30.  It's been a very long day.  However, Lee found a really great sushi restaurant - easily the best one all vacation - right down the street.  Good thing - we didn't stop for lunch today and both of us were a bit on edge by the time we checked in.

Overall, this was a better than average vacation.  It's a given that any vacation is better than being at work, but this one had its moments of horrible and terrific, so I need to give my final entry about it some thought.  I'll do that and post again on Monday - after we finish and driving to Redding tomorrow and a bit of downtime.

Until Monday, we are back stateside, we are well, the phone is back on, and we hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Until Monday.
